DESCRIPTION:
How can TEER assays for barrier function be made easier and more accurate? By making them continuous and reporting measurements in real time. The all new TEERZ by Applied Biophysics, Inc. A more effective approach to a traditionally complicated assay.
Overview
The ECIS® ZĘ (Z Theta) is capable of noninvasively monitoring cell behavior in real-time using electric cell-substrate impedance sensing (ECIS). By applying an alternating current across patterned gold electrodes, a voltage potential is created which is then measured by the system. When cells cover these electrodes, the current is then impeded in different manners depending upon the overall cell morphology.
Upon stimulation of cell function, resulting responses in cell morphology will alter the impedance, revealing quantifiable differences. The ECIS Z-Theta can then convert the complex impedance into series resistance and capacitance, allowing for more accurate data of the cell behavior, making it an advanced form of cellular impedance-based assays.

ECIS® TEER Z vs. Traditional Methods
Explore groundbreaking insights into the cell-cell junctional barrier development of cell monolayers with our innovative ECIS® TEER Z instrument.
To ensure precision, traditional chopstick electrode probes (CE) were employed for verification (depicted by the red triangle). The accompanying bar chart presents TEER normalized to CE, offering a clear comparison with the ECIS® TEER Z at the same time points. Uncover the power of accurate and reliable monitoring for your cellās TEER values.
